Who are we?
We are Lena and Ian, travellers and adventure seekers.
We’ve met each other in China 7 years ago and since then we’ve lived in 2 countries, travelled to 17, and learnt each other’s languages.
Lena is a Chinese translator, and Ian is a chemistry teacher. Right we now are located in the Netherlands, Ian’s homecountry.
Around 4 years ago, we decided to go on a world trip one day, so we started saving up on money, but we never knew when exactly it is going to happen. Then we got married, spent a lot of our savings (2 wedding ceremonies are not a joke), and finally decided: we gonna do it in summer 2024.
Why Enjoy the Detour?
We met each other in China, Lena got a scholarship in Jilin Normal University on the North of China, and Ian came to the same “village” to teach English. Both of us weren’t meant to be there – Lena was supposed to go to a different city, as well as Ian. But we took a detour in our lives and found each other. Since then we travelled a lot, and each time when we had to do a detour, we’ve learnt to enjoy it!
